For many, reading on the mobile web is a slow, clunky and frustrating experience - but it doesn’t have to be that way. The Accelerated Mobile Pages (AMP) Project is an open source initiative that embodies the vision that publishers can create mobile optimized content once and have it load instantly everywhere.

We welcome this project because it accelerates the consumption of mobile content and preserves the business model that finances quality journalism

Firefox OS yolun sonuna geldi

Mozilla'nın geçen sene "kısmen öldürdüğü" Firefox OS, resmi olarak yolun sonuna geldi.

Mozilla, Firefox OS'u telefonlar için geliştirmeyi 2015'te durdurmuştu ancak işletim sistemi için tüm ümitler tükenmemişti. Firma, Firefox OS'u akıllı TV'lerde, tabletlerde, router'larda, hepsi bir arada PC'lerde ve her tür cihazda kullanmayı düşünüyordu. Ancak Mozilla artık bu planlarını da bir kenara bıraktı ve Firefox OS'un ticari geliştirilme sürecinin durdurulduğunu açıkladı.

Firefox OS'un telefonlar için geliştirilmesi durdurulsa da, ticari proje halen aktifti. Hatta Panasonic, Mozilla'nın işletim sistemiyle çalışan bir smart TV serisi duyurmuştu. Bunun dışında Firefox OS'ta nelerin olup bittiğini şimdiye kadar pek duymadık. Yapılan bu açıklamayla birlikte işletim sisteminin yolun sonuna geldiği ortaya çıkmış oldu.

Mozilla şimdi Firefox OS'la ilgili tüm kodları Gecko rendering motorundan kaldırıyor. Yani Mozilla, Firefox OS kodlarıyla karşılaşarak, zaman kaybına uğramak istemiyor. Açık kaynak topluluğu Firefox OS'u geliştirmeye devam edebilecek ancak Mozilla'nın bu konuda herhangi bir yardımı olmayacak.
